Activate Windows Xp Regedit

Windows XP Activation Loop (Can't log-on to Windows desktop) You've just turned back on your computer and suddenly you can't get into the desktop. It gets stuck in the Windows log-on screen. So I have virtualized licence version of windows xp box and used your trick to activate, and worked perfectly fine now since it's a VM,user ac cess it's through RDP and only problem is system times out means it doesn't ping no RDP when i go the concole of VMWARE and click on vm then it activates and ping and RDP works and as soon console times. Windows XP will typically remind you to activate the product (most users will have 30 days to activate XP after installation). To activate XP manually, you can use the Start menu shortcut in the System Tools Accessories folder. At the command prompt, type. Oobe/msoobe /a. In case you're wondering, msoobe stands for 'Microsoft Out of Box Experience.'

Learning has never been so easy!

This how-to will describe how to enable NLA on Win XP. It is a fairly simple process, but there are some minor caveats to consider. As well as a major chance to break the windows install. Step lightly folks.

Activate

5 Steps total

Step 1: Log in as an admin

You can use any account that has local administrative rights.

Step 2: Check for update compliance

For Windows XP to be able to use NLA, it must first be updated to SP3. Additionally, I would suggest installing the RDP v.7 update as well since it brings the full functionality of NLA into play.

Step 3: Open the registry editor

Activate

Here is where things can get dangerous. If you do not feel safe doing the following, DO NOT DO IT! You could seriously break your machine if you do something other than what is described.

Step 4: Navigate to and modify the registry keys

There are two keys to change. The first is located at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa

You are going to modify the key named 'Security Packages'
Add 'tspkg' to the listing of security packages. Do not remove any packages.

The second key is located at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSecurityProviders

You are going to modify the key named 'SecurityProviders'
Add 'credssp.dll' to the listing of Security Providers.

Activate Windows Xp Regedit

Close the registry editor.

Step 5: Restart the computer.

After the restart is complete. Test the NLA functionality by attempting to RDP to a server that only accepts RDP connections from machines that use NLA.

If it works, you have succeeded. If it does not work, then you should check to ensure that the above defined changes have been made correctly.

Activate Windows Xp Msoobe

Congratulations for completing the step that Microsoft left out of SP3. You can now easily connect to any RDP host you desire.. well within reason anyway.

This is a great how-to. It would have saved me a lot of time when I had to do this a few years back!

I can't stress how important doing step 4 correctly is. I made the mistake of removing the other packages (luckily only in a testing environment).

Thanks for this. I was pleasantly surprised to find the entries already existed in my registry. Perhaps I did this a year or two back and just forgot.

Great tutorial. I've been racking my brain on getting it to work when I had RDP 6 and SP3 installed, and this fixed it perfectly.

    Thanks a lot.

Great tip! Solved in moments. In LSA I was looking for a subkey called Security Packages, but that was a part of the LSA key. :-)
Thanx! Keep up the great work!

Copy of Windows XP is no longer being sold.

May be you should consider run those applications on compatibility view.

Activate Windows Xp Professional

Also if you have access to Windows 10 PC, report compatibility issue through Feedback Hub app.

In some cases, activation might still work but your Windows XP will be at risk because support is already ended.

Thank you for your useful reply.

Activate Windows Xp Registry

I know that Windows XP is no longer being sold officially. However, original unused 'brand new' retail copies are still available to buy, and I assume that in principle, buying such a copy would be the same as it would have been to buy one in a shop a few years ago.

Activate Windows Xp Regedit Command Line

I have tried running my old software on Windows 7 in compatibility mode, and this did not work. I am talking about very old applications such as Acccess 97 and Access 2, along with my own bespoke applications. I am resigned to the idea that I need an older version of Windows (i.e. XP) to run them satisfactorily.

All I need to know is whether the XP activation process would work if I did buy an unused retail version of Windows XP. You say activation 'might still work', but it would be reassuring if you (or someone) could be slightly more definite, and say categorically that it would work (or wouldn't). And if it did work, as per my original question, could I activate by phone or email, or would online activation be the only workable route?

Activate Windows Xp Phone

Again, many thanks!
