Lenovo Bios Update Would You Like To Update The Serial Number
You don't have the software to change the serial number of the bios, but doesn't really matter given the fact the serial number is only used to identify the machine for warranty. If you have no warranty you don't really need to worry about this. Not exactly true. Lenovo System Update also verifies.
The issue we have is that when we use the 'wmic bios get serialnumber' command, we get nothing but a blank field. The issue only happens after the system board was replaced. The onsite warranty tech and I have been using the Thinkpad maintenance disk/usb to do the renaming of the serial number after the replacement. In bios we do see the serial number, but windows don't. Is there a way to fix this? We needed the serial numbers in windows because our site uses a script during sysprep to extra the serial number an modify them into a workstation name.
